Hello XHS Families, Community Members, and Website Guests,
I am honored to serve as Principal of Xenia High School, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. As a proud Xenia High School alumnus and member of the Class of 2002, it is a privilege to return home and give back to the school district and community that gave so much to me.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education and Allied Professions from the University of Dayton in 2006. My career in education began in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I spent eight years with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as a teacher, coach, and administrator. During that time, I also earned a Master of Arts in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University in 2011.
Following my time in Charlotte, I served as Assistant Principal at East Rowan High School in Salisbury, NC, for two years. In 2012, I married my wife, Rochelle, a native of Missouri. We welcomed our first son, Trinian, in 2014, and shortly after, we relocated to Missouri to be closer to family.
In 2014, I joined the Waynesville R-IV School District, where I served in various roles, including Middle School Assistant Principal, Director of Community Resources and Alternative Education, and Director of Student Services. During our time in Missouri, we welcomed our second son, Layton, in 2016. I also earned my Educational Specialist degree in Superintendency from Arkansas State University in 2019.
Later that year, we moved back to Ohio, and I joined Bellbrook High School as Assistant Principal, serving there for five years. While Bellbrook was a wonderful community, my heart has always been in Xenia. When the opportunity to lead Xenia High School presented itself, I knew it was time to come home.
I am excited to build on the proud traditions and continued success at Xenia High School. Together, we will work toward our mission of graduating 100% of our students. The possibilities are endless when we work as one, and I look forward to what we will achieve together.
Sincerely,
Todd Whalen
Principal, Xenia High School
