Frequently Asked Questions
-
YouScience is a "discovery" platform that uses a series of brain games to measure a student’s natural aptitudes (what they are hard-wired to do well). Unlike traditional interest surveys that only ask what a student likes, YouScience reveals their untapped potential. We use this data to personally invite students to specific career events that align with their biological strengths.
-
We don’t just post a flyer on a bulletin board and hope students see it. If a student’s YouScience results show high aptitude in spatial visualization and inductive reasoning, our team may personally reach out to invite them to an engineering-focused "Coffee and Career" conversation or a manufacturing field trip. We want our students to feel seen and encouraged in the areas where they naturally shine.
-
These are low-pressure, high-impact opportunities for students to engage with professionals during the regular school day:
- Coffee & Career: Informal morning meetups where students can chat with local leaders about their daily work life.
- Professional Panels: Lunch-time sessions where a group of experts from a specific industry (e.g., healthcare, IT, or skilled trades) share their career journeys and answer student questions.
-
Absolutely. We offer dedicated workshops and one-on-one assistance for:
- Resume Writing: Translating YouScience aptitudes and classroom achievements into a professional format.
- Mock Interviews: Students can practice their interview skills with local business partners and receive constructive, real-world feedback before they ever head to a real job interview.
-
We have Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways embedded right here in our middle and high schools. These programs focus on high-demand career areas in Ohio, allowing students to start gaining technical skills and industry-recognized credentials without leaving the district.
-
Not at all! In fact, YouScience is incredibly helpful for college-bound students. By identifying their aptitudes early, they can choose a college major that fits their natural talents, potentially saving time and tuition money by avoiding major changes later on.
-
We encourage parents to sit down with their students and have them log in to their YouScience dashboard. It’s a great conversation starter! You can see their "Aptitude x Interest" matches and explore the specific "Describing You" section, which provides great language for students to use on college applications and resumes.
